Your ceramic coating provides exceptional gloss, hydrophobic protection and easier maintenance, but proper care is essential to get the most performance and the longest life out of it.
This is the guide we give every coating customer. Seven habits, a short list of things to keep away from the paint, and one pro tip.
It’s not detailed until it’s perfected, and it stays perfected when it is washed the right way.
Seven steps
Caring for aceramic coating.
01
Remove contaminants immediately
Do not let these sit on the surface for long: bugs, bird droppings, tree sap, hard water spots, road tar and fresh road paint.
The sooner they are removed, the less chance they have to damage your coating.
02
Wash the right way
Use the two-bucket method with grit guards. Wash from the top down, rinse your wash mitt often, and never wash in direct sunlight when you can avoid it.
Avoid
Automatic tunnel car washes
Brush-style car washes
Dirty sponges or wash mitts
03
Use quality products
For the best results, only use premium detailing products: a pH-balanced automotive shampoo, a premium microfiber wash mitt and high-quality microfiber drying towels. Our favorites are GYEON and Autofiber.
Avoid household soaps or harsh degreasers. They can reduce the performance of your coating.
04
Pre-rinse and foam
Rinse the vehicle thoroughly. Apply a thick layer of foam with a foam cannon whenever possible, and let it sit to loosen dirt before you wash.
This greatly reduces the risk of swirl marks.
05
Dry without scratching
Use clean, premium microfiber drying towels. A filtered air blower is highly recommended for touchless drying around mirrors, emblems, wheels and trim.
Never let water air-dry on the surface.
06
Regular maintenance
Wash your vehicle every 2 to 4 weeks. Wash more often if it is parked outdoors or driven daily, and remove contaminants as soon as possible.
Consistent maintenance keeps your coating slick, glossy and highly water-repellent.
07
Things to avoid
Keep these away from a coated car.
Avoid
Automatic car washes
Brushes or abrasive tools
California dusters
Dirty towels
Harsh chemicals or strong cleaners
Letting contaminants bake onto the paint
Pro tip
Professional care.Maximum protection.
We offer weekly and bi-weekly maintenance washes, and recommend a yearly coating inspection to keep everything performing like new.
